En caso de que siga para adelante la compra (tal vez con algún reajuste de cantidades), si Microsoft no puede usar la marca Nokia para los Lumia (según tengo entendido, sí podrá seguir usándola en los Asha) imagino que los meterán bajo la marca Surface. Algo similar a lo que sucede con XBOX, donde no están metiéndote la marca Microsoft cada dos por tres en todas partes. Tendría sentido, así aprovecharían el tirón de los Lumia para tirar de la marca Surface y darle más publicidad, lo que repercutiría positivamente en sus tabletas (que falta les hace, porque tienen un producto realmente bueno y parece que no tan conocido).
De todos modos, si no pueden usar la marca Nokia tampoco será un drama. La gente que ahora compra un Nokia Lumia no va a dejar de comprar los Surface Lumia, salvo cuatro o cinco románticos. Si hubiera tanto amor por la marca Nokia, sus teléfonos con Symbian habrían seguido gozando de éxito hasta ahora incluso. La gente compra los Lumia porque son buenos, bonitos y se podría decir que, incluso, baratos (un Lumia 520 tiene las tres B por derecho propio y los resultados están ahí, todo un éxito). O por algunas de sus cualidades estrella, como sus cámaras. En definitiva, si Nokia "ha vuelto" no ha sido por romanticismo o amor a la marca (insisto, ahí seguiría la gente con los teléfonos con Symbian), sino por hacer buenos teléfonos.
Si Microsoft consigue con su publicidad que la gente vea que la gama Lumia sigue siendo la misma, no creo que haya problemas. No quiero decir con esto que la marca en sí no sea algo importante, faltaría más, pero creo que la marca "Lumia" en sí misma ya se ha hecho un hueco hoy en el mercado como para seguir siendo atractiva sin ir de la mano de Nokia. Salvo, insisto, para cuatro o cinco románticos. Eso sí, pese a todo, Microsoft debería realizar (y lo hará si finalmente esto sale adelante, no me cabe duda) el esfuerzo de remarcar que los Lumia seguirán siendo Lumia y que "nada ha cambiado". O no a peor, al menos.
Yo creo que una incorporación de la gama Lumia a Microsoft puede ser muy buena. Una unión total hardware+software que puede dar lugar a una evolución más rápida del sistema (algo que, por otro lado, no es muy difícil) y tal vez a conceptos y aparatos innovadores en un futuro. Y mientras todo esto se haga manteniendo sus diseños, sus señas de identidad, su atención por la imagen y el sonido y su calidad... estoy seguro de que nada malo podrá salir de ahí.

Under the Purchase Agreement, the Company will sell substantially all of its Devices & Services Business, including assets and liabilities to the extent primarily related thereto, to Microsoft International for an aggregate purchase price of EUR 3.79 billion in cash, subject to certain adjustments, to be paid upon the consummation of the transactions contemplated by the Purchase Agreement, which is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2014 (the transactions contemplated by the Purchase Agreement collectively the "Sale of the Devices & Services Business"). The confirmation and approval of the Company's Extraordinary General Meeting is a condition to the consummation of the Sale of the Devices & Services Business.
The Board of Directors proposes and recommends that the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders confirm and approve the Sale of the Devices & Services Business.

Cuando Lenovo compró la división de portátiles y PC's de IBM también acordó el poder usar la marca IBM durante unos años, creo que 5. Sin embargo, sólo la usó durante 3 años o menos.
Lo que sí ha mantenido Lenovo es la marca ThinkPad que creo IBM para sus portátiles y que tiene ya 20 años de historia tras de sí y que mantiene a los mismos trabajadores que cuando estaban bajo la bandera de IBM.
Los ThinkPad eran (y siguen siendo pese a que ahora están bajo una marca china y eso siempre crea desconfianza, a mí al menos) sinónimos de calidad y durabilidad, incluso su aparentemente tosco y aparatoso diseño es icónico y adorado por los amantes de los Thinkpads.
Con Nokia y MS quizás pase algo parecido y tranquiliza saber que los ingenieros y trabajadores de Nokia seguirán trabajando como hasta ahora solo que bajo potestad de Microsoft. Yo espero, no obstante, que MS mantenga la marca Nokia todo lo más que pueda.
También estoy de acuerdo en algo que comentan un compañero más arriba: el hecho de que ahora el hardware y el software saldrán juntos de casa y eso será bueno para optimizar los terminales y potenciar su rendimiento y expansión.

Se puede dar la circunstancia de que en 2016 veamos teléfonos Nokia fabricados por Microsoft y con la marca Nokia en el terminal (ya que puede usar el nombre por 10 años) y teléfonos Nokia fabricados por lo que queda de Nokia ya que en 2016 podrán volver a usar su nombre ligado a terminales móviles. Curioso, aunque no creo que se llegue a dar tal situación, unos u otros lo evitarían.
La pena es que posiblemente la gama de smartphones de Microsoft acabe llevando la marca Lumia, que a mí personalmente no me gusta nada. Sí me gusta la como suena Surface pasa usarlo como marca, ojalá tiren por ahí. Aunque tal vez veamos los dos a la vez y los smartphones de Microsoft, una vez dejen de usar la marca Nokia, se llamarán Surface Lumia.
