Buenas:

AMD acaba de anunciar que se suma al desarrollo de MeeGo:

quote:

You'd have thought that chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices, a long-time nemesis of Intel, would steer clear of the MeeGo alliance which started as a joint project between Nokia and Intel.

Well, apparently not. On the contrary, AMD said it will provide "engineering expertise" to further drive the open-source mobile operating system.

The MeeGo OS, which was unveiled earlier this year, is an amalgamation of Nokia's Maemo and Intel's Moblin software. It is designed to run on mobile platforms including smartphones, tablets, Netbooks and embedded devices such as in-vehicle infotainment systems.

Prior to this, AMD was already a gold-level member and on the board of directors for the Linux Foundation, a non-profit group which aims to drive the development and adoption of Linux. The announcement was made at the MeeGo conference held yesterday in Ireland.

"MeeGo represents an exciting, open-source mobile operating system we expect to be adopted by mobile and embedded device makers over time," AMD's corporate vice president for Software Development, Ben Bar-Haim, said in a press statement.

The Sunnyvale-based chipmaker expects MeeGo to help "drive our embedded plans and create expanded market opportunities for our forthcoming Accelerated Processing Units".
